PHILLY CHEESESTEAK PASTA

Philly Cheesesteak Pasta Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 1 tsp. dried rosemary
  • 1 tsp. garlic powder
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • ¼ cup heavy whipping cream
  • ½ cup beef broth
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup
  • 5 potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced
  • 1 ½ cups shredded cheese (cheddar or a blend works well)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions:

  1. Preparation:
  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish with butter or non-stick spray to prevent sticking.
  1. Cook the Meat:
  • In a large skillet over medium-high heat, cook the ground beef and chopped onion. Stir frequently until the onion is soft and translucent and the beef is thoroughly browned. This should take about 7-10 minutes.
  • Once cooked, drain the excess fat from the skillet to ensure your dish isn’t greasy.
  1. Mix the Sauce:
  • In a medium bowl, whisk together the heavy whipping cream, beef broth, dried rosemary, garlic powder, cream of mushroom soup, and salt and pepper to taste. Ensure it’s well combined and smooth.
  1. Layer the Ingredients:
  • Start by arranging half of the thinly sliced potatoes in an even layer at the bottom of the prepared baking dish.
  • Spoon over one-third of the creamy soup mixture, followed by half of the browned meat and onions.
  • Repeat with another layer of potatoes, another third of the soup mixture, and the remaining meat.
  • Finish by layering the remaining potatoes and the last of the soup mixture.
  1. Add Cheese and Bake:
  • Sprinkle the shredded cheese evenly over the top.
  • Cover the dish with aluminum foil to prevent the cheese from burning and to help the potatoes cook evenly.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for about 1 hour and 30 minutes, or until the potatoes are tender and the top is bubbly and golden. Check by inserting a fork into the potatoes to ensure they’re soft.
  1. Serving:
  • Let the dish stand for about 5 minutes after removing it from the oven; this helps everything set for easier serving.
  • Cut into squares and serve hot. This dish pairs wonderfully with a crisp green salad or steamed vegetables for a complete meal.

Tips:

  • Cheese Choice: For a gooier texture, consider using mozzarella or provolone cheese.
  • Meat Options: You can also use thinly sliced steak instead of ground beef for a more authentic Philly cheesesteak experience.
  • Adding Vegetables: Feel free to add bell peppers or mushrooms to the meat while cooking for added flavor and texture.

Enjoy your homemade Philly Cheesesteak Pasta—it’s a comforting, hearty meal perfect for any day of the week!
