Crack Cake Recipe
Preparation Time: 20 minutes
Cooking Time: 45 minutes
Servings: 8-10
Ingredients:
- For the Cake:
- 1 box (standard size) yellow cake mix
- 1 packet (3.4 ounces) instant vanilla pudding mix
- 4 large eggs
- 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup packed brown sugar
- 3/4 cup water
- 3/4 cup vegetable oil
- 1/2 cup white wine (any mild variety)
- For the Butter Glaze:
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup white wine
Instructions:
- Prepare Oven and Pan:
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit (175 degrees Celsius).
- Generously grease a 10-inch bundt pan with butter or non-stick spray.
- Mix Cake Ingredients:
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the yellow cake mix, vanilla pudding mix, eggs, ground cinnamon, granulated sugar, brown sugar, water, vegetable oil, and white wine.
- Stir the mixture using a whisk or electric mixer until well combined, ensuring not to overmix to keep the cake light and fluffy.
- Bake the Cake:
- Pour the cake batter into the prepared bundt pan, smoothing the top with a spatula.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 45 minutes, or until a butter knife or toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean.
- Prepare the Butter Glaze:
- As soon as the cake is done, in a medium saucepan over medium-high heat, melt the unsalted butter.
- Add the granulated sugar and white wine to the melted butter. Cook, stirring constantly, until the sugar has completely dissolved, about 4-5 minutes.
- Finish the Cake:
- Remove the cake from the oven and immediately poke holes all over the top of the cake using a fork or skewer.
- Slowly pour the hot butter glaze over the cake, allowing it to seep into the holes and absorb into the cake.
- Let the cake sit for a few minutes to absorb the glaze, then carefully loosen the sides and center of the cake with a knife.
- Invert the cake onto a large serving plate.
- Serving Suggestions:
- Serve the cake warm, ideally with a side of fresh fruit or a dollop of whipped cream for added indulgence.
- Storing the Cake:
- Keep any leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature to maintain freshness.
Notes:
- Temperature Tip: Make sure the cake is hot when pouring the butter glaze to enhance flavor absorption.
- Storage Tip: The cake can remain fresh at room temperature for several days if stored properly.
Enjoy baking and savoring this deliciously moist and rich crack cake, perfect for any special occasion or as a delightful treat to enjoy any day.
