Philly Cheesesteak Pasta Recipe
Ingredients:
- 1 lb. ground beef
- 1 tsp. dried rosemary
- 1 tsp. garlic powder
- 1 large onion, chopped
- ¼ cup heavy whipping cream
- ½ cup beef broth
- 1 can cream of mushroom soup
- 5 potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced
- 1 ½ cups shredded cheese (cheddar or a blend works well)
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions:
- Preparation:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish with butter or non-stick spray to prevent sticking.
- Cook the Meat:
- In a large skillet over medium-high heat, cook the ground beef and chopped onion. Stir frequently until the onion is soft and translucent and the beef is thoroughly browned. This should take about 7-10 minutes.
- Once cooked, drain the excess fat from the skillet to ensure your dish isn’t greasy.
- Mix the Sauce:
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the heavy whipping cream, beef broth, dried rosemary, garlic powder, cream of mushroom soup, and salt and pepper to taste. Ensure it’s well combined and smooth.
- Layer the Ingredients:
- Start by arranging half of the thinly sliced potatoes in an even layer at the bottom of the prepared baking dish.
- Spoon over one-third of the creamy soup mixture, followed by half of the browned meat and onions.
- Repeat with another layer of potatoes, another third of the soup mixture, and the remaining meat.
- Finish by layering the remaining potatoes and the last of the soup mixture.
- Add Cheese and Bake:
- Sprinkle the shredded cheese evenly over the top.
- Cover the dish with aluminum foil to prevent the cheese from burning and to help the potatoes cook evenly.
- Bake in the preheated oven for about 1 hour and 30 minutes, or until the potatoes are tender and the top is bubbly and golden. Check by inserting a fork into the potatoes to ensure they’re soft.
- Serving:
- Let the dish stand for about 5 minutes after removing it from the oven; this helps everything set for easier serving.
- Cut into squares and serve hot. This dish pairs wonderfully with a crisp green salad or steamed vegetables for a complete meal.
Tips:
- Cheese Choice: For a gooier texture, consider using mozzarella or provolone cheese.
- Meat Options: You can also use thinly sliced steak instead of ground beef for a more authentic Philly cheesesteak experience.
- Adding Vegetables: Feel free to add bell peppers or mushrooms to the meat while cooking for added flavor and texture.
