Italian Crescent Casserole

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb ground beef, cooked and drained
  • 1 cup Three Cheese Pasta Sauce (or your favorite pasta sauce)
  • 1 can (8 oz) refrigerated crescent dinner rolls
  • 1½ cups shredded Italian cheese blend (about 6 oz)
  • ¼ teaspoon dried basil leaves

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a skillet, mix the cooked ground beef and pasta sauce. Heat the mixture to boiling over medium-high heat, stirring occasionally.
  3. While the meat mixture is heating, prepare the crescent roll crust. Separate the dough into 8 triangles. Place the dough in an ungreased 9-inch glass pie plate in a spoke pattern, with the narrow tips overlapping the rim of the plate by about 3 inches. Press the dough into the sides and bottom of the pie plate to form the crust.
  4. Sprinkle 1 cup of the shredded Italian cheese blend over the bottom of the crescent roll crust.
  5. Spoon the heated meat mixture evenly over the cheese.
  6. Bring the tips of the dough over the filling to meet in the center, but do not overlap them.
  7. Sprinkle the remaining ½ cup of shredded Italian cheese blend over the top of the casserole, and then sprinkle the dried basil leaves over the cheese.
  8. Bake the casserole in the preheated oven for 20 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  9. Once baked, remove the casserole from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving.
