These Spinach Feta Stuffed Crescents are a simple and delicious appetizer or snack that combines the tangy flavors of feta with creamy mozzarella and fresh spinach, all wrapped in soft, golden crescent dough. Perfect for any occasion!
Ingredients:
- 2 cans (8 oz each) refrigerated crescent rolls
- 4 oz feta cheese, crumbled
- 4 oz mozzarella cheese, shredded
- 3 oz spinach (fresh or thawed frozen, with excess moisture squeezed out)
- 2 oz black olives, diced
- 1 egg white, beaten (for brushing)
- 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes (optional, adjust for heat preference)
Instructions:
Prepare the Filling:
- If using fresh spinach, wash and chop finely. If using frozen spinach, ensure it’s thawed and excess moisture is squeezed out.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the spinach and diced black olives.
- Add the crumbled feta cheese and shredded mozzarella cheese to the bowl, followed by the red pepper flakes (if using) and a pinch of salt, keeping in mind that feta is already salty.
- Mix everything together thoroughly and set aside.
Prepare the Crescent Rolls:
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (or as directed on the crescent roll package).
- Open the crescent dough cans and unroll the dough. Separate it into the pre-cut triangles.
Shape the Crescents:
- Spoon a small amount of the spinach and cheese mixture onto the wide end of each triangle.
- Roll the dough starting from the wide end toward the narrow tip, shaping it into a crescent. Be sure the filling stays well-contained inside the dough.
Bake:
- Place the shaped crescents on a lightly greased or parchment-lined baking sheet.
- Brush the tops with the beaten egg white for a golden, crispy finish.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 15 minutes, or until the crescents are golden brown and puffed up.
Serve:
- Let the crescents cool slightly on a cooling rack.
- Serve warm as an appetizer or snack.
